The Duck Race, charity event and fun
And what is the Duck Race? The Duck Race is first and foremost a great opportunity to enjoy the return of the warm weather. It’s also an opportunity to take part in a fun and entertaining event, with family and friends.

But above all, the Duck Race is a charity event, organized to help children in need.

What’s more, the Duck Race is a Green Event and is committed to organizing an eco-responsible event with a reduced impact on the environment.

So why don’t you sponsor your duck so it can be on the starting line for the next Duck Race?

Traditionally, the start takes place on the forecourt ofNeimenster Abbey in the Grund, on the banks of the Alzette.

During the event, regional catering and a host of entertainment await participants, turning this unique race into a real party, complete with DJ sets.

From midday onwards, the Duck Race also offers a wide range of entertainment for children. Catering stands allow visitors to sample local specialities. The race starts at 3pm.

Thousands of ducks in the Alzette
The Duck Race is a duck race. But not just any ducks: plastic ducks! For the 2024 edition, over 16,000 ducks took to the start line.

So how many ducks will be on the starting line in 2025? Will the record be broken?

Each participant buys one or more numbered tickets from the Duck Race website. They then sponsor one or more ducks (5 euros per duck).

The numbered ducks are then released with great fanfare into the Alzette. Spectators watch the thousands of plastic ducks race. The fastest ducks will win their sponsor one of the superb prizes up for grabs.

Duck Race proceeds go to charity
The Duck Race is very popular in Luxembourg. In addition to its fun and festive side, the race is also popular for its solidarity aspect.

In fact, all profits from the race go to charity. Every year, associations working for the well-being of children and adults share several tens of thousands of euros. They will be on hand to present their projects to help the most disadvantaged and those in need.

In 2024, the associations Passerell asbl for asylum seekers, Stärekanner asbl, De Leederwon asbl and Fondation Wonschstär were honored.

Charity is a good reason to come and compete! Want to take part? Simply visit the Duck Race Luxembourg website to buy a ticket and get your duck on the starting line.
